Blue Water Receives Sea Trade Maritime Awards 2017 for Fuel Efficiency

Dubai, Monday, October 09, 2017 – Blue Water Trade Winds Pvt Ltd received Sea Trade Maritime Awards for Fuel Efficiency. Now in its 14th edition, Sea trade Maritime Awards continues to honor individuals, organisations and companies from across the regional shipping industry. This year’s event was held under the patronage of His Excellency Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulaymen, Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation and Chairman of Dubai Maritime City Authority and Chairman of Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) and was hosted by international broadcaster, Tom Urquhart.

“Receiving this prestigious award for Fuel Efficiency is both an honor and a challenge which we take on with pride. We indeed want to revolutionize our services to spread the green initiative across the globe” said Captain Kumaresh Gupta, Founder and Managing Director of the company. Fuel economy, and its associated environmental impact, is the most important challenge that any ship owner, operator and charterer face today. Blue Water recognizes the importance of increased efficiency in realizing this goal.

Inspired by the success of cargo heating management, Blue Water has embarked on Main Engine fuel saving initiative, BOSS - Blue Water Optimum Speed Services. With the lack of real interaction between vessel owners and charterers, the potential savings often go unrealized. Blue Water saw an opportunity and endeavored to bridge up the gap through BOSS.

BOSS is an intelligent speed simulation tool, which is trained on the data of completed voyages using enhanced data mining techniques for fitting marine hydrodynamic relations and creates vessel specific mathematical model. BOSS simulates a voyage schedule based on the weather forecast and utilizes the market conditions to allow the user to compare the voyage plan at various scenarios like economic speed, charter party speed, variable ETA, variable speed/rpm etc. Based on these comparisons, the concerned parties can decide on a particular voyage schedule which can potentially reduce fuel consumption and corresponding emissions by 8-10 %. Over 11034.8 MT of main engine fuel was saved on 103 voyages managed by Blue Water in the last year itself.  This in turn corresponds to reduction in emission by nearly 35000 MT (Co2, Sox & Nox).

Judging by our increasing customer base and client satisfaction level, we knew we were doing well. But winning a prestigious award in this area is truly overwhelming and priceless. Being Honest, journey towards this award was not easy; in fact it was very long and tough. Transforming the idea to the real output required a good deal of efforts and various challenges came in the way” , said Mr. Anurag Tiwari (Operations and Business Relations Manager).

Lastly, we would like to congratulate all the participants and winners of awards in their respective fields. We will continue to take this initiative forward, for a Greener and Cleaner planet.
